Mike Dunn was born in Manhattan Beach, California and began an exciting journey through childhood. At age 5, Mike’s family moved from the surf and sand in Southern California to the surf and sand of the Middle East where Mike learned Hebrew and Arabic. At age 8, Mike moved to Belgium where he learned French and Flemish.

Mike’s parents believed in exposing their children to the native cultures and as a result, this real estate entrepreneur learned valuable skills which, 30 years later, would become a distinct advantage to him and the people he serves.

At age 11, the Dunn family moved back to the California Coast and settled in Laguna Beach, where Mike quickly gained a love for athletics. In high school, Mike excelled in baseball and dreamed of playing professionally. After playing at Saddleback College, he earned a scholarship to the University of Texas at El Paso. Mike had given himself a deadline to play baseball and if he did not achieve his goal, he would look for something else.

The summer before the scholarship, Mike learned the benefits of discipline and fundamental good habits. He played for three teams, one of which consisted of current and former professional players. At 19 he was playing with men 5 to 10 years older and learned some of the habits that helped them succeed. One of his teammates taught Mike valuable pitching philosophies and conditioning habits.

One of those habits was to run right after the game to help the arm recover faster. Often, Mike would run along the outfield fence long after the lights were turned off. This habit helped him earn a scholarship and, as your will learn later, much more.

After his scholarship ended, Mike played Semi-Professional baseball throughout Texas, hoping to sign a contract. As hard as he tried, no offers came and he finally came to the realization that no one but him will pay the bills. Through a friend, Mike found a job roofing houses for home builders in Austin, Texas. Mike’s sports discipline paid off and he soon began his own roofing and construction business.

The Texas summers were brutal with temperatures often hovering in the 110 degree range. Mike learned to get up early and get the tar paper on the roofs before the sun would melt it. Mike loved the work and the health benefits it provided, but after a while, he began to look to expand his mind and decided to finish his schooling. He attended the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a degree in Government.

He soon landed a job at the Texas State Legislature as a speech writer and legislative assistant. He still loved baseball and played on the weekends. During one of these games he spent time helping his younger teammates to better themselves and discovered a passion to coach.

As a result, in 1993 Mike returned to his roots and began coaching at Corona del Mar High School and Chapman University. It is here that he combined his love for baseball with his love of business and with a friend turned the All American Baseball Academy into a successful baseball camp whose goal was the teach young players the benefits of goal setting, fundamental skills and a healthy lifestyle. In 1998, Mike was introduced to the real estate business and quickly fell in love with it. That year he was the Rookie of the Year for Fred Sands Platinum Properties, a company founded by Fred Sands in Los Angeles, known as the Realtor to the Stars.

In 2000, Coldwell Banker bought the Fred Sands company and Mike became a shareholder in Platinum Properties International where he was a top 5 agent from 2001 through 2005, and the top agent for 2004 and 2005. In November 2005, PPI was bought by Coldwell Banker Platinum Properties. Mike once again was the top agent in 2006.

All of these achievements found their roots in Mike’s childhood. He was exposed to challenging and un–comfortable situations early in life and as a result, learned the skills needed to succeed. One of these basic fundamental skills is listening. When learning a language, one needs to let the brain hear the words before it can assimilate them. Mike learned that by listening, he could learn any language. This gave him the confidence to learn other skills as well. Mike is a firm believer that everything is learned and that nothing is impossible.

One other thing that Mike learned from athletics, the work is what motivates. While some people want the win or the money, Mike truly enjoys the process; the daily routine and the competition. To sell a house at a record price or get a great deal on an investment purchase are great, but one must enjoy the process, for it to be truly satisfying.

Today, Mike has become an avid real estate investor in addition to selling real estate. He knows the value of real estate and has become a partner in an investor network through out the United States. Mike owns properties in California, Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, Arizona and Idaho.

On a personal level, Mike still enjoys athletics and can be found working out at the gym weight training and running along the beautiful California beaches. A fast study, Mike enjoys basketball, tennis, windsurfing, skiing and bike riding. He enjoys reading good books, attending sporting events, concerts and traveling.

Dear Mike:

I seen you ad in a magazine about bank owned and post foreclosure properties in newport and irvine. I was wondering if you come across any subject to properties. Properties that are on the verge of foreclosure and back payments can be made to take over the property. I am not looking for top dollar properties but mainly one for myself. If you have any properties that fit that criteria please email me or call me at 480-678-7120.
I look forward to hearing from you.
